The Ditko character Clay is referring to is the Meteor Man, re-christened "The Looter" at the last minute, ASM #36. It's worth noting that the last issues of both his runs on Spider-Man (#38) and Dr. Strange (Strange Tales #146) have covers cobbled together from his interior artwork -- not a happy camper toward the end, that Steve. Blake Bell's book is great, I love how it details the author's deteriorating relationship with Ditko, and almost closes on a "fuck this nutjob" note.
